"Thanks, Nancy - good to know. No problem with the roosters. We tried that once and it was very short lived. He was very sweet-natured but I'm too much of a light sleeper."

"A friend of mine has successfully kept chickens on her large lot on West Hill (in town) for a few years. She wasn't able to happily keep roosters or guinea hens though - too noisy."

Columbian Rock Rooster seeks home
We have an 8 week old bird that was part of a straight run of red ranger meat birds. We thought it might turn out to be a hen, but now he's crowing. He's very sweet, will be held and petted, fine with kids. We just don't need a rooster. He would make a good addition to a backyard flock that wants a male, and is also a dual purpose meat breed.
