This is a "from start" demonstration, using the hatchet-in-the-woodlot kill method. Please, no children or dogs attending. We will process a small number (about 4) of hens under home-kitchen conditions. There will be some hands-on opportunities; please wear suitable clothing and plan to work in a sanitary fashion (some chlorine bleach will be used on work…See More

"I do have Wild Fermentation and I'll be sure to check out the resource list. Thanks for your help, its sad to see all of those wonderful Stick and Stone beans going to the compost instead of me and my family's bellies. Thanks again Sam"

Wild Hare Farm (which is kind of part of Lanzoni Farms). I am based here in Ithaca with vegetables. We have some large scale market items at the actual farm which is in Moravia - where we also grow grains and soybeans. The farm is certified organic, I do the Farmer's Pledge on my Ithaca grown items. John (Lanzoni) would love to move most of his farming to supporting the production of alcohol, lol! In that vein, we are looking at barley, wheat (for the distilleries), and hops. Thanks for your info, I'll forward that to John.

Also, as we are just starting to explore this grain, we'd be interested in any suggestions you have regarding preferred varieties, etc. It seems that options are somewhat limited based on our initial searches for seed. Thanks! Roxy
