IthaCan Organic Cider Pressing 2013 at Kate's house

September 28, 2013 from 1pm to 4pm
THIS EVENT IS FULL.We'll be pressing apples again this fall. BYOA (Bring Your Own Apples). If you have access to unsprayed/untreated apples bring 'em along. Last year, we weren't able to have this event due to the late frost that ruined most apple crops in our area, so let's hope for more apple-friendly weather this year.Spouse and kids welcome! In 2009, we averaged 2.5gal/bushel of apples; in 2010, we 2.25gal/bushel. Be sure to bring cleaned containers with lids. We can have 10 member…See More

What do you hope to achieve by joining IthaCan?
I have returned home after being away for several years, purchased a wonderful home on the outskirts of Interlaken. My place can be - if I have the perseverance and know-how - a great homestead that can sustain me, my family and contribute to my neighbors. I want to be a part of learning and also teach some of the things I know. I have a business that sells Amish furniture and wine. I am working very hard to bring locally produced market items to the business both for sale directly as well as by local farmers and craftspeople. My business is on Cayuga Lake in Romulus (half way up the west side on Rte. 89). I'm very excited by what you do! I'm friends with Teresa Grady and she suggested I get connected with you! Thanks!! Do you have any expertise or resources that you can offer to the IthaCan community?
I have a business that sells Amish furniture and NY state wines. We're half way up the west side of Cayuga on Rte. 89. Come Spring I will be having a regular, weekly farm/craft market under our very large porches. Mine is a high-traffic place for people to sell their wares on a regular basis. I'm primarily a carpenter in skill and kind of lacking in the home economics skills like canning...
What is your favorite home-preserved food?
Peaches
