"I know this reply is late, but others will probably have the same question. I use an old crockpot pot for sauerkraut. Much cheaper than the special German crocks that go for over $100!"

What do you hope to achieve by joining IthaCan?
Sharing knowledge, food and socializing. I would like to do some home cured meats.
Do you have any expertise or resources that you can offer to the IthaCan community?
Book research into older preservation methods. Lacto- ferment and brewing experience. Can offer kefir cultures and kombucha mothers.
What is your favorite home-preserved food?
Salsa, jerky, pickles.
