"What do you mean by boil out?  I think I have the same canner.  Is it regulated by weights on the exhaust?  When I use mine, there is a bit of water that seeps out around the pressure lock, as well as condensation from the venting…"

Is our pressure canner supposed to do this?

We have used our pressure canner three times and have had fluid boil out each time. We think it might be due to the fact that the pressure canner vents violently periodically rather than a gentle constant vent. Our canner is a Mirro 12 qt canner. Is the violent venting a normal thing (and we are doing something wrong elsewhere) or do we have a defective canner?  Thanks!AliceSee More
