Start of the New Season

So I decided to take a walk at lunchtime and see if I could find anything wild to nibble on, not expecting too much...  I found:

 

• A handful of withered up rose hips that were absolutely delicious.
• A single evening primrose plant that I pulled up and will bring home for eating tonight
• A bunch of wild onion/leek/garlic greens (I still don't know how to tell them apart.) Whew they were potent!

Not bad for the first day of the season!

Awesome!! I didn't get much of a look around before it snowed again. Did you eat the hips out of hand? I've been added dried ones to my tea every day for the vitamin C. Only cold I've had so far (Ojala!) is the one I got in Florida. :)

Oh yes... I just popped them right in!   I'm a big fan of these now, and I barely knew what a rose hip was a couple of years ago...

The ramps are unfurling!! I've also had the first, tiniest sprinkle of garlic mustard in a stir fry too. Yay!
