Jerryrigging a Seal-a-Meal

So Roxy & Nancy have got me going with vacuum sealing canning jars of dehydrated or frozen foods, but I don't have a Foodsaver, I have a Seal a Meal.  I looked and Seal a Meal doesn't sell a lid attachment that works with canning jars.   It has a port intended to hook up a tube to vacuum seal wine bottles, so I'm wondering if the Foodsaver vacuum lid attachment tubing will fit on the Seal a Meal port.  Has anyone tried this?

Hi Katie,

I don't know why I didn't see this before . . . If you are interested, you are welcome to drop by to try it out.  I use mine almost every day.  But the lids don't always hold as well as you'd like.  I'm not sure what the difference is, but I wouldn't trust them in the freezer - I suspect the rubber gaskets get too cold . . .  So I use rings to hold the tops down.  Sometimes they lose their seal in the basement or the pantry too.  Other times they work wonderfully.
