elderberries

Do birds eat unripe elderberries? The flower bracts on my 3-yr old tree are losing the little green pips that came after the flowers. Bush otherwise looks healthy. Anyone know what might be happening?

I'm convinced they do! Every year I look at all my flowers and think BUMPER CROP! and then about half of them reach maturity.

hnmmph! bad birds. And I'm sorry you also have this problem. I'll be happy with even a few cups of berries then.
