The Freeville Readiness Fair is a free family friendly event designed to help people learn how to live better during difficult economic times and prepare for emergencies. Hosted by the Reach Out For Christ Family Ministry Center, the event runs Friday, September 16th from 5 to 9 PM, and Saturday, September 17th from 10 AM to 4 PM.
In addition to exhibitors and speakers, the fair offers free childcare, children's games, a talent show, petting zoo, raffles, bake sale, apple pie baking contest and a food concession. Learn while having fun with the whole family.
Booths and presentations will provide information, resources, demonstrations, discussions and networking opportunities on such topics as:
Gardening & Composting |
Food Preservation & Management |
Small Scale Livestock |
Energy Alternatives |
Homesteading Arts |
Survival Skills |
Emergency Preparedness |
Home Healthcare |
Plus many other topics |
Exhibitor and vendor applications are welcome.
This is a Friday evening and all day Saturday event. We would like as many speakers, information booths, demonstrations, discussion groups and related vendors as we can fit into our five acre fair area and indoor fellowship hall. Please consider bringing your expertise and your materials to the fair to share them with the community. We hope you bring your families to have fun, learn new things and network with friends at the Fair.

I have a Preparedness Basics presentation I can give, if you are looking for speakers on that topic. See PreparedTompkins.org posts, Preparedness Basics Part One & Part Two.
Also, have a presentation connecting home food preserving to local foodshed dev't and food security. See, IthaCan.
And it would be great if we could have an IthaCan table at the event. It'd take some coordination with a few of us to take shifts "manning" the table though.

IthaCan is a web-based social network where home food preservers in Tompkins County organize food preserving events and share information.
