Event Description

Join Ithacan for a hands-on fermentation event! We'll gather to learn the basics of pickling vegetables through the process of lacto-fermentation AND make some of our own to take home.

We'll make two ferments: a traditional pickle and a spring chutney or salsa with seasonal, ecologically produced, and locally-available ingredients.

Max # of participants: 6
Cost: ~$5-7 for veggies and supplies
Bring your own: 1 glass pint jar and 1 glass quart jar (if you have them)
A light mid-morning snack will be provided.

This gathering is food-allergy and special-diet friendly. Please RSVP and include any dietary needs you have.

Hi Bootsy,

Glad you enjoyed the class! I bought the asparagus at BB farms on Route 13, past NYSEG.

Rachel,

I totally loved the workshop.  You did an amazing job preparing and presenting and the information was just what I needed....as well as the hands on! Thank you!  Would you mind telling me where in Dryden you bought the asparagus? Now, my mouth is watering for some more.  Looking forward to more events.  Best, Bootsy

Hi all,

Just a friendly reminder than the Spring Pickling workshop is this Saturday from 9 am - 11:30 am at 52 Sodom Rd, Ithaca, NY.

Please bring a small glass pint jar and lid, and a large quart jar and lid, clean and ready for use, if you have them. There will be extras if you don't.

See you on Saturday bright and early,

Rachel

I wish I could come but I won't be in town! I hope there is another one. I'm eager to learn how to lacto-ferment my veg!
