We had 17 members order 64 cases of jars! Fantastic.

See the address & map in the Event Description (above) for directions to Seph's house in downtown Ithaca. Although Seph is generally home, it's a good idea to call first (tel# above).

Original post:

Two summers ago canning jars were a scarce item in area stores -- many even ran out. So last year, IthaCan members beat the summer rush by ordering jars as a group. We ordered 96 cases in all.

This year we will be putting in another bulk order for Ball canning jars with lids & rings at Agway. Agway has offered us a 15% volume discount. We need to order at least 20 cases to qualify.

Available jars:
• wide mouth quart ($10.19/case)
• wide mouth pint ($9.34/case)
• regular mouth half pint ($8.49/case)
• wide mouth half pint ($9.34/case)
• quilted jelly jars half pint ($10.19/case)
• half gallon wide mouth ($10.19/case) - Note 6 jars/case

Note: There are 12 jars/case. Prices do not include sales tax.

If you are interested in joining the bulk order, please RSVP (blue link above) to this Event and write a comment specifying your order. List the size jar that you want. And how many cases you would like.

Order deadline: Friday, June 11.

If you're interested in other types of jars besides the three listed above, we might be able to order them, if there is enough interest among the membership. Indicate the type (ounces & mouth opening) and quantity on your RSVP.

Comment by Valerie McMartin on May 25, 2010 at 12:34pm: are the 4 oz jars the 1/4 pints? i got one case of them somewhere last year. they were great for pickle relish, exactly the amount we'll use in a day. and we only use pickle relish once a month so it was great not having leftover.

will you be totalling up the prices? I'm not sure what sales tax is in your county, I know it's a percent or 2 different between broome and tioga counties.

• 2 cases of wide mouth half gallons
• 2 cases of wide mouth half pints
• 1 case of wide mouth quarts
